This continues to be a year of change.
We still haven't sold the car yet, but my husband and I are getting around mainly by PT and bicycle. We still occasionally use the car, say if we have a LOT of groceries to pick up or, as the case will be in a few weeks, if I have to travel 15km in under half an hour (possible by car, not so possible by bike at this stage).
His technology needs and tools will change. He's switching from having a laptop to having a desktop and an iPad. We'll be buying those reasonably soon, but hopefully not before selling the car (anyone want to buy our car?).
And I'm going to start implementing a few fairly minor changes into my own life this week:
- I've been having a bit more red wine than usual the past couple of weeks, so I'll be cutting back down to 2 glasses per week (roughly)
- I'm going to do more vegetarian cooking, just for the sake of variety (and the budget)
- Moving away from cereal with milk for breakfast to toast and/or a cooked breakfast to reduce my dairy intake and how much milk we have to buy each week
There's also a fairly major timetabling change coming, which is why I'll need the car once/week:
I start my physics course in about a month. I'm a bit nervous, particularly as I haven't really caught up with the semester 1 stuff I've missed (I was given advanced standing due to the fact that I have a maths major already), so I sense lots of study in my future over the holidays. I also need to dig out my husband's calculus text book to go over that - it's been a while since I've done calculus.
I am looking forward to getting out of the workplace every week for a few hours next semester. The change of scenery will be awesome for me, as will doing something different with my time. I'll take all the study leave I need and it will hopefully be enough.
Wish me luck!
