First 3 days back
Feb. 3rd, 2011 04:19 pmSo we had our 3 pupil-free days for the start of the year.
Day one was all wank. Seriously. There was a lot of snarking across all faculties.
Day two was better. The speaker was funny, his topic was relevant, and most of us enjoyed it to at least some degree. We also had Brian Dawe give a talk at the end. It was mostly irrelevant, but entertaining so no one minded. I also rode in, and decided to ride home on an empty, rumbling stomach because I had no other way of getting both me and the bicycle back at that stage. I stopped part-way through Jells Park feeling utterly wrecked and tired and unable to go any farther. Phil was able to rescue me, thankfully. I did get to feel a bit idyllic though: I was wearing a skirt and a floral shirt, I was sitting under a pear tree, and the pear tree was near a lake. That bit was pretty cool! :-)
Today was all about staff orientation and planning. We're pretty much set for tomorrow, which is when the students come back. It'll mostly be orientation and introductory activities, so it shouldn't be too hard. I've got 3 maths classes in a row, and fortunately we can repeat a lot of the content because it's mostly classroom expectations.
I'm now extremely hungry, so I'm going to sort out food. I don't care how early it is, I need dinner :-)
